About Ben Affleck and his battle to show the world that he can do a good movie without Matt Damon. Okay, I really do hate Ben Affleck (like the rest of the world) but I really enjoyed his protrayed of Matt Murdock. In my eyes, he IS DAREDEVIL. Faithful to the comics, down to his awesome fighting stick. Bulleyes was kinda silly though people should realized that is how Colin Farrel REALLY is (accent and behavior). Jennifer Garner is HOT but she always is. She is better in Alias though.

About Richard Gere and his battle to defend a "guilty man" in court. This was my first time I ever saw this movie even though everyone i know talks about it. And I thought it was okay. Not great nor bad, just okay. Pretty much, nothing memorable about this movie. Yes, this was Edward Norton's first ever movie and you can truely see how great of an actor he will become but not memorable. Oh well...

About Kevin Spacey and his battle to save himself from Deathrow. I saw this movie at an "art house" theatre so I was expecting a lot. I didn't get it. This movie was way too "Hollywood" to be at an art house theatre. Very contribed story with many blatant "oscar clips" moments for our actors. This movie truely suffers from the fact that it is NOT based on true story, because the story was way too unbelievable to be enjoyed.

About Robin Williams and his battle become a part of a family for whom he develops their pictures for. Though the performance were great and the concept was very interesting, the movie was okay. Not as scary as many claim to be, if at all. Very creepy preformance by Mr. Williams. And its good to see Mr. Nice Guy from Alias, Michael Vartan be a jerk in this movie. Take that (to all those girls who swoon over him)!

About Wil Farrell and his battle to show the world he is still very funny after SNL. This movie was very funny, with tons of great moments with Mr. Farrell himself. Pretty dumb movie, but great. See it if you like to leave brain at door.
You know what's wierd? Every movie I mentioned have some kind of connection with each other. Like Alias star Jennifer Garner in Daredevil and Alias star Michael Vartan in One Hour Photo, Colin Farrell in 2 movies, same last name of Will Farrel, Laura Linney was in both Life of David Gale and Primal Fear..etc.

Kore wa pen desu ka?
This week I started taking Japanese lessons offered here at work. So, for 2 nites every week, I will learn how to better talk to my Japanese brothas here.
I have taken Japanese one summer ago in high school, and though I dont remember a thing, I do know that the way they teach it here is very different than what I had. I guess because this course is a conversational Japanese course, they dont teach you the "Japanese alphabet" at all. And during a course, the teacher (tries not to) speak not a word of English to the students. Its all done with lots of visual aids and body language. I guess this is how they would teach children since children dont have any language reference to go by. And, every class, we have a different instructor, so that we can get used to all the different accents (last nite's class, well, the teacher was very cute, btw). And the wierdest thing of all...in the first 2 classes I have had, I already know the Japanese words for matches, cigarette and ashtray. Curious why those would be the first thing you learn!
Now, after 2 classes, I think I am ready to have a deep conversation with the head chief himself:
Me: Miyamoto-san, kore wa pen desu ka?
Miyamoto-san: ???
Me: Iie, kore wa pen ja arimasen. Kore wa enpitsu desu!
Miyamoto-san: *walks away*
Okay, maybe not...

I have been spending a lot of time at Densetsu's page, ever since he FINALLY revamped his webpage. Its now gots great photos like this one and witty comments to with it. And its always fun to read about his life. I love you, Meg!

Crummy Valentines Day
I was debating if I should talk about this since I took soooooo long to post it. Well...what else do I have to write about?
Okay, I had a really bad Valentines Day. But its not what you think. It wasn't because of a girl and it has nothing to do with breaking hearts. My Valentine Day sucked because I was stuck at work.
February 14 was supposed to be THE day we finish a milestone to be shipped for evaluation. February 14 was also supposed to be my last day on the project because I was needed on another project the next Monday. The day was supposed to be simple. We were to finish our build by 4 pm and get to leave early for Vday. That of course, never happened.
We did get everything in at 4pm on time. That went well. But after final review of our build, I was told that everything I have been working on for the last couple of months was WRONG and UNACCEPTABLE!! And I had 20 minutes to fix it. You wouldn't believe that amount of stress I was under. Not only because I was going to leave this project on a bad note, but I was also keeping everyone else from leaving early. And, it was damn right IMPOSSIBLE to fix in under 20 minutes.
Okay, I dont know how we did it, but we manage to come up with something in 20 minutes. The most incredible HACK job in which temporary fixed the problem I created. It wasn't pretty but it worked.
I felt like shit the rest of the day. I let people down today. And, instead of leaving my work to the next capable hands to do, I instead left him to RE DESIGN the whole thing.
Anyways, even though everything was done, I forgot that I was in charge of preparing the build for delivery. I was at work til 11:30pm before everything was ready and FTPed. I left work and drove down to Downtown Seattle for a party I was supposed to attend...
A Great Day After Valentines Day
So, I left work at arrived at this party around Midnight (so, technically, it was the day after). It was this little Valentines Day little singles mixer held by this guy who seems to throw really great parties in the city. And the party was still kinda of packed and happening.
Well, I was actually too tired to actually do any socializing that night. I was also very hungary as well (I skipped dinner). So, I just sat in the corner, ate some sushi and hanged out with my friend Christine, who too didn't really want to socialize. She was great. She really comforted me dued to my bad day.
The rest of the night was great. We later went for karaoke til like 3am in the morning before heading to an IHOP til 5 am. I was so tired that night but I liked it. Even though I am ALWAYS tired, this was a good tired feeling I was getting, because it was being tired from having fun, not from working to death. Its great to have friends who look out for ya.

Rolling Stones and Digipen
Did anyone pick up the latest issue of Rolling Stones magazine, the one with the Beatles on the cover? Would you believe there's an article about the "new" Digipen that is in Redmond, Washington (right next to where I work) in those very pages?
There's some really interesting facts and stats in the new Digipen mention in the article that is fasinating to read about (like the 7-11 bit). But, man, the article really paints a really negatively GEEKY DORKY image for Digipen. Its a school where the "nerds run the caferia" and normal students "who are the wallflowers".
To tell you the truth, I was very upset at the article because it really made us Digipen student look bad, to a point where I feel kinda embrassed to come from this school. I mean, we weren't THAT geeky, were we? I mean, we were somewhat but not to the level that is protrayed in the article. But the article also points out how narrow mindedly focus the school is, not just in the ciriculum but in ADULT life in general. Students are allowed to remain with their socially challenged especially with people of the opposite sex (Digipen still has a very tiny female population).
When I read this article, I started thinking about that new movie coming up, Old School, where a bunch of guys start a faterity. I think we should start a Digipen one just to shake and wake up some of these boys in the school. They will need it.

Speed Dating--Part Deux!
I am very proud of myself this weekend. This weekend, there were two event I had to be at in Seattle's Chinatown/International District and I ended up going to both, by means of driving there. Normally, when I come down to Seattle, I usually hitch a ride or have drive down with someone else in the car to guide me. This weekend, I went down ALL BY MYSELF. I am growing up *sniff sniff*
Saturday nite, there was a speed dating/night club party event that was being held by my friend who was also trying to promote his new online dating website service. So, I came to help, to take pictures and to actually sign up for the first session of speed dating to "get the event moving." Actually, it turned out that I actually did BOTH sessions of speed dating because it just so happened to be not enough men in the party to do the second one, so I stepped in. Yes, I sacrificed my body to be put on show like a piece of meat for all these single women. Someone had to do it.
I dont think I had as much fun as I did when I first did it, because I did most of the talking. It sucks when they have nothing to say. And they seem to take it seriously while I was having fun with it. Oh well, at least I got to show off my wonderful dancing skillz infront of them afterwards. But that may have scared them off more...
Sunday, I drove back down to attend the Emerald City Comic Convention which was being held at Seahawk Stadium (which is next door to Chinatown ID). Okay, maybe I have been spoiled by the San Diego Comic Con and the Canadian National Comic Book Expo in Toronto (which IMHO rivals San Diego's) but this one was really small and ghetto. Not too many stores and they all sold like old toys from someone's garage. And would you believe that NO WHERE sold NEW COMICS in which I was looking for. The only thing good there was my friend's store Kicks Hobby and Penny Arcade, who were signing autographs.
I spent the rest of Sunday hanging out and checking out Chinatown. Its definately one of the most dead Chinatowns I have ever been to, but it also one that I could tell with a lot of history. It was great seeing some of the old buildings there.

About Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson and their battle to keep ethnic stereotypes alive! I would have said "more the same" but it really felt like a different style of movie than the first. The plot was more structured, more predicable and the action was more comedical. Actually, I think Owen Wilson was much more funnier in the first one. Fann Wong was HOT!
--Movie Review: Band of Brother DVD Box Set: 4.5 Denstars (out of 5)
About a "band of brothers" and their battle to survive World War II. The real life story of "Easy Company" as told thru an 10 hour HBO mini series. Not as gory as Saving Private Ryan but the same impact as how dramatic and extraordinary war can be. Great performs from all the actors involve. I see big things for all of them in the future. The production values on this film is amazing for a made for cable mini series. A must see.

About Eddie Griffin and his battle against "The Man." The movie was alright, it did have it moments. Chris Kattan was a little too much. Sistah Girl was HOT! It was also great to see Toronto's Richmond Street infront of the Joker Nightclub in the movie. The best thing about the movie was Dave Chapelle. He was hilarious. So much so, after I saw this movie, I immediately went and watched....

About a bunch of pothead friends and their battle to save one of their own from jail. One of the best "stupid" movie of all time (watched high or not). Less it being a movie about drugs but more about best friends who all stick together and help each other out, in an asshole kinda way. Dave Chapelle is brillant in movie. Harland Williams rocked. And why isn't Scarface doing more comedies? A must see, NOW!
--Play Review: The Joy Luck Club: The Play: 4.0 Denstars (out of 5)
About a group of women and their daughters and their battle to figure each other out. This was the world premiere play version of the award winning book and film from Amy Tan. This play had one of largest cast I have ever seen for a small production play, even though everyone played more than one part. I thought the play jumped into the first story kinda abuptly but the rest of the play was fine. You know, both the book and film had really emotional endings and I was afraid the the play could not capture that. It did.

About film writer Charlie Kaufman and his battle to write the impossible screenplay to an impossible book. This is another very quirky little movie from both Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze who brought Being John Malkovich. This movie will make you think. Was the ending supposed to be that way or was that intentional(?) After the movie, I had a theory about the movie that I shared with those who saw it with me, and as we thought about it, the more my theory started to make sense. It was only later that I discovered that my theory was right! I am SMART!. S. M. R. T!

Brilliant, fresh and innovative film direction from first time director George Cooney. Sam Rockwell was great as Chuck Barris. Was Chuck Barris really an CIA operative? Hmmm...

About Mel Gibson and his battle against god during an aliens invasion! You know, I saw this movie like two times in the theatres (in 2 different cities too) and have only now wrote the review for this movie when I also got the DVD. I really like M. Nights' work and Signs is no exception. He truely makes greatly structured movies that really invites ppl to watch it more than once. Though I like this movie, I still can't escape the huge plot hole that this movie has. Oh well...

About Vin Diesel and his battle to get a rush from saving the world. The action in this movie was incredible, everything else was horrible. I have lost some much respect for Vin Diesel after watching this movie, because it showed me how much he CAN'T ACT. He was just BAD in this movie. Its funny how I waited until the DVD version to come out before I wrote this review even though I saw it in the summer time when it was released. Needless to say, I did not buy the DVD.

Lunar New Year/Chez Whitey Weekend

This weekend was a very full and awesome weekend. My ol' war buddy (aka Digipener), Jon came up to visit me Seattle, for a weekend of catching up, snowboarding and Vancouver-ing.
This weekend was like a mini Digipen reunion. I got everyone to come out to see Jon for lunch and dinner and for drinks. We all told and listen some great stories about Digipen, porn and Denny!
Snowboarding was painful (but good for me). This was my first attempt at snowboarding and amazing I didn't fall that much at the beginning. But I did fall down really hard once and after lunch, since I was still so exhausted, I fell a lot more. So, I didn't really snowboard this weekend, but I will be doing it again. I have this awesome Whistler trip coming up in April and I intend to snowboard it!
But the best part of this weekend was Jon and I got to go back and visit our old home back in Vancouver on Sunday. It was a tearful reunion as we cruise the Asian malls of Richmond, ate cheap (but good) sushi, and shopped in Downtown Vancouver. We also got to meet up with some of my Seattle friends who were also in town. We had dinner at Hooters, suggested by Christine herself, because "she's never been." Nuthin wrong with that.
We ended the night with ALL YOU CAN SING Karaoke, for like 10 bucks (Canadian) a pop per person!! We sung til midnite before we drove all the way back to Seattle.
It was a rough night though. Didn't get back home til 3:30am, slept til 5:30am, got to airport to drop Jon off at 6:30am, got home again at 7:30am, slept til 9am, showered and went to work by 10am, worked and stayed til 8pm. Boy I am tired.
