Did anyone catch the latest episode of Insomniac with Dave Attell on Comedy Central? This week's episode was TORONTO!! Its always great to see your hometown on TV, especially places I use to hang out. They were on Bloor St and Yonge and Dundas, and Queen and Bathurst! Even Lake Ontario! Wow!

Lunar New Years Banquet
This weekend, I got to celebrate the Lunar New Years at some banquet I was invited to. Here are the highlights:
--we were promised a night of Karaoking, but the sound system at the restaurant could not support it. Boo!
--sat at a table with this girl who is very interested in my friend, but my friend may not be. She purposely seeked me out and sat at my table just to talk about him with me. Of course, we didn't because I am the master of misdirection.
--the food was awesome! It was some of the best chinese food I have had in a long time.
--got to meet cool and important people at this banquet, including W. Walter Liang, the Secretary's Representative of the US Department of Labor. Of course, we had nothing to talk about especially since I told him I was a Canadian (working in the US). I dont think he liked that (he did work for the dept of labor) and I should be deported very soon :(
--afterwards, hanged out some cool lounge bar at the Four Seasons in downtown Seattle. Recently, we been doing that alot, hanging out at cool bars in fancy hotels. I guess that's what us old folks do now :o
--even later went to this awesome Karaoke room place where we sang til 4~5am in the morning. I got to hear the "Asian" version of Lionel Richie's Hello (pronounced "Ha-ro").
--I even got to sing. I sung some Rick Ashley that wowed the crowds. What even impressed them more was after the song was done, we found out that my microphone was OFF all that time. Yep, I rocked!

Speeding (Again!)
Saturday nite, 3am. Just came back from a gala dinner and I just dropped my friend off at his place. I drove down this long stretch of road that takes me right to my place. It was dark, rainy and not another car in sight.
And then cop car appears and pulls me over. Turns out I was going 56~60 in a 40 zone. Turns out he was also chasing me for awhile, but because the road was very windy, I really didn't see him (but I knew there was a car behind me, because I could see the forward lights of the headlight and no sirens) until we hit a straight away.
And to add insult to injury, I couldn't find my insurance card anywhere to show him. The total fine for the ticket would have been around $400!!!!!
But out of nowhere, he let me go without writing me up. I mean, I didn't even fight it, and he let me off with a warning. Wow!
Anyways, I dont like making excuses, but I really didn't realize that I was going that fast. I guess its hard to tell when there's no one around you. But haven said that, I really thought this would be a ticket I deserved to get (unlike that "first" speeding (speed trap) ticket I got early, which by the way, I have decided to fight it!), but I didn't. I was extremely lucky tonite. Funny how things work out.

Luke!
Luke was in town. Luke is an old Digipen classmate whom I haven't seen in a long time. In fact, I think the last time I saw was the last day of school at Digipen (about 4 years ago). One of the reasons why I haven't seen him so long is where he lives now. He lives all the way in South Africa, making games.
Anyways, I saw him for dinner at the Celtic Bayou for some jambalaya, chicken wings and cajun fries. I pretty much did my best in updating him what every other classmates where up to. Its funny that within the last month or so, I have seen about 8 different classmates (of course, 5 of them work with me ;) .
I hope to see him again this weekend before he flies back home (24 hour flight, pretty much).

Addendum: Day 13: Packing, Dinner with Andrea and Blogging
As Andrea like to point out, I failed to mention that I went to dinner with her that day.
So, for the record, I went to dinner with Andrea, at some japanese restaurant and had a good time doing so. We talked, we laughed, we cried.
You know its wierd that we went to a Japanese restaurant even though she sez she "likes" Japanese food, but in reality, its only a small portion of Japanese food she likes (she doesn't like sushi!)
And what Keg pager do you speak of? I have no idea what you are talking about...
...and speaking of Andrea...
The Bachelorette
I got home in time to catch yet another "trash tv" show (this was dued to the fact that there was nothing to do at work so I get to leave early, but how long will that last). This show is kinda a reverse of Joe Millionaire with a whole bunch of guys vying the attention of one very attractive woman, who isn't a millionaire, but will secretly reveal later that she is really a mean spirited biatch. Hahaha...
Seriously, it was interesting to see the men fight amongst themselves. It was not as vicious as the women of Joe Millionaire, but the men were just more pathetic, hopeless romantics. Did you hear some of the lines they used? Here's some of the memorable lines:
Fireman: She a fire I would like to catch...
Cowboy: Being with a girl is much harder than takin down a steer. You can let a steer go afterwards but its hard to do so with a girl.
I dont know if I will continue to watch this show. Not enough sleaze. The only reasoning is to watch the girl. She is quite a looker.
Afterwards, they showed Celebrity Mole. I didn't watch that. I have standards, y'know ;)

Joe Millionaire
Did anyone watch this BRILLIANTLY BAD show on Fox? 20 women all after the attention of one fake millionaire. And the great thing of this show is that not all the girls seem to be "gold diggers" (though I am sure they all want the money because they decided to be on this show) but the ones that are REALLY STICK OUT. And its great to see another conflict in the show, with "Joe" himself fighting himself to maintain this lie! I see this show as another obsession for the nation.
Anyways, I know what you kiddies are really waiting for. The conclusion to my vacation in Toronto. I know you are all DYING to hear about...so without further ado:
Day 11: More Meals with Different People
--had lunch with ol' childhood buddy, Huy
--works as "financial advisor" and gave me alot of hints on managing money
--ate at this pizza joint in which the owner was one of his clients
--later met up with good friend Abz (from LA) who was in town for the holiday on the cold streets of Toronto
--together we both went to check out Silver's new store (AnimeXtreme the Store!) but Silver wasn't there
--the store was awesome. Had lots of items I wanted too but didn't have the money or room (in baggage) to carry all
--ended up just getting the "Dragon Half" DVD
--left Abz and store to meet up with another friend, Buckets (again!) to go attend another IGDA Toronto "social" at Vinnies'
--before we went, we had dinner at ******* for some chicken. Yummy...
--okay, the "social" was horrible. Very few ppl and they were all like at the bottom of the "geek" barrel.
--none of the cool ppl I knew were there. Hmmm...maybe I should have told them I was in town (doh!)
--actually, who holds an social like one day after New Years? Hmmm...
--once again, Buckets and I were the center of attention. Everyone wanted to talk to us. And when we left, it wasn't worth staying.
--when we left, the whole city was blanketed in snow. It was amazing it came down so quickly
--later met up with Abz again and this time Silver at Red Lobster.
--all walked home together ankle-high in the snow. I haven't done that in ages!
Day 12: Even More Meal with More Different People
--lunch with ol' Digipen classmate Vincent (aka Massive) up in the North York area
--had Japanese food, talked and caught up with each other individual lives
--went to Yonge and Eglinton to find this new EBWorld store (video games) that a friend (David Fung) recently started managing.
--took me awhile to find it, but it was actually ABOVE another competiting game store (Gamarama) in which I really dont like.
--expecting to see my old friend Dave, he wasn't there but instead saw another old face, Kirk (Lil' Wayne)!!
--turns out he works at this new EB as well.
--got caught up on old times (as much as we could because he was working) and even bought some games from him at a discount (The Sims Online and Typing of the Dead!)
--later went all the way to Missisauga to have dinner with friend Monica
--went to Swiss Chalet (Mmmmmmm....chalet sauce)
--then went to see that J.Lo movie, Maid in Manhattan
--I have justification for seeing this chick movie:
1) I saw this movie with a chick; and
2) This movie was directed by acclaimed director Wayne Wang, of the Joy Luck Club and Smoke.
--anyways, the movie review:

About J.Lo and her battle to make everyone believe she's a low income maid. As much as I hate to say it, I was strangely attracted to this movie. Not cuz of its shallow and predictable storyline, but all the characters were all just interesting to watch and played out really well. Yes, even Ms. Lopez. Must be Wayne Wang's wonderful direction in movies with a lot of characters.

--remember, my flight was early next moring and I thought I would hang out all night long, get a meal at 3 am and then get dropped off a the airport.
--and if you remember from my earlier post below, Danny and I were to hit a niteclub (with DJing friend) but Danny decided to take a nap before we went.
--Danny napped til 2am. We didn't hit the club.
--Its all cool. Its was just fun hangin out with Danny when he was awake.
--we did eat at 3am, at that Montreal Deli, run by the Simpson family, the largest family in Canada with about 30 ppl(!), in which all the kids are adopted from third world country
--this place has awesome breakfast and is usually packed (even at 3am)
--here is where I also learnt to drink coffee. I was dead tired then.
--headed to the airport around 5 am, where Danny once again becomes the last person I see whenever I leave Toronto.
Day 14: The Flight Back
--in Toronto, they forgot to give me a Boarding Pass before I headed thru security. Got hassled by security. Went back to get Boarding Pass.
--once in terminal, realized that they forgot to give me TWO (2) Boarding Pass (need another for Vancouver to Seattle once I reach Vancouver). Needed to get one.
--flight was okay. Wanted to sleep but too compelled to stay up and watch inflight movie, in which I never saw before. Saw following movie:
--Movie Review: S1m0ne: 3.0 Denstars (out of 5)
About a film direction and his new CG actress and their battle to make everyone believe that fake actors are better than real ones. I was very drawn to the actress (Rachel Roberts--who btw is from Vancouver...funny that I am flying to Vancouver and watching her) that played the supposive fake CG actress just like all the characters in the movie were drawn to her. She is absolutely stunning. She did this incredibly performance of the song "Natural Woman" in which even I was humming it after I left the plane (not a good thing). Later found out the song was actually performed by Mary J. Blige. Now I want to find that version of the song.
--okay, never fly thru Vancouver to get to the US again.
--in Vancouver, you have to get back all your bags, go thru customs and security AGAIN and then check your bags back and all this before your next flight!
--so much hassle.
--had small hassle at US Customs. Had to refill out a form for my visa. Customs guy for once was a cool guy, especially after he found out I worked for Nintendo and we talked games.
--had to get my bags search more thoroughly again by security. But then they found out I make video games and we got into this nice discussion. Lady just finished searching thru one bag and ready to search second but decided to let me go instead, because that we talked video games! I dont know if this is a good thing or bad.

Okay, I am back...
er...back on the internet, not in Seattle just yet.
Its like 11:30 pm Saturday, my flight is tomorrow morning at 7:30am, so for fun, we decided that we all stay up tonite and go clubbing, eat at some great 24 hour deli and then get me to the airport at 5:30am. Sounds, like a plan, right?
Anyways, my friend Danny wants to take a nap before we hit this after hour club in which our ol' friend is DJing. Til then, I guess I will update my blog! Yippeeee!
Day 6: Hangin' with Buckets (continue)
--hanged out with Buckets in Mississauga as he drove me around town in that wonderful Toyota Matrix he keeps yapping about.
--We checked out the NEW (new to me, anyways) Mississauga Square One Shopping Complex (mall) looking for this mythical $130 CDN PSOne with screen. We did not find it.
--when to visit Bucket's woman, Doodlegirl at the Starbucks at which she works at. She gave us discounted coffee/chocolate milk while we try to "geek" the place out by playing multiplayer Super Monkey Ball Jr. Monkeyfight on our GBA.
--I am, btw, the Oakville Starbucks Grand Champion of Super Monkey Ball Jr. MonkeyFight, beating down Buckets, 3 games to NOTHING! Ha Ha!
--finally, got to check out his "crib" as well. He has everything you need to like a meaningful geeky life.
--later enjoyed some pizza at Boston Pizza. Tropical Chicken pizza, anyone?
Day 7: Pickering Flea Market, BABEE!
--went with Dan and Wendy to Pickering Flea Market, for some wholesome flea market goodness. Pickering, btw, is very far from Toronto and is considered the "boonies"
--I normal go to look for some cool shit, mostly used video games, but I couldn't find anything that interested me.
--ended up only purchasing a Jamician Chicken Patty and a Spicy Beef Patty (not Jamician style, mon) and a Vanilla Coke
--later had dinner with my old Digipen roomate, Johnny Mac! He still wont tell me what the heck he was working on!
--we talked about old times and he told me about his secret future plans, which was pretty amazing. I will write about it once its official.
--afterwards, I headed to another party, hosted by my old school mate (I've known him since Grade 2).
--OMG, there were ppl I haven't seen for years, including his parents, who was just floored to see me.
--so, its a party with equal amounts of guys and girls and once again I attract all the attention of the guys just cuz "I make video games for a living" *sigh*
--ended up playing this great party game called Mafia. (Mental note, must used this game again at my get togethers).
Day 8: Ennay Day
--met up with old buddy Ennay in Scarborough for some catching up.
--had Bubble Tea and hang out at those ghetto arcades, just like 'dem old dayz (minus the Bubble tea, it no exista then)
--showed Ennay this awesome Golgo 13 Namco arcade sniper game. This game is like 10 times better than anything Silent Scope can do. Basically, its like a comic book version of Point Blank where you have to shoot the most incredible targets (like shooting the heel off a woman's shoes) and with ONLY ONE SHOT too! The gun itself even has a sensor that detects if you eyes is too close to the scope. This game is just too AWESOME.
--later had dinner at Mike's newly renovated place. I saw this place like 6 years ago, before I left Toronto for Vancouver, and he only finished one room and a bathroom. Lazy bastard ;)
--saw a whole bunch of old friends there too, that I haven't seen in ages, like Monica and hubby Joey, Hong and Lee
--had pizza and chinese food and watched Jet Li's classic "Fist of Legend."
Day 9: New Years Eve
--the day started with lunch and catching up with Lee, of whom I haven't seen in years (normally, I hang out with his sister, Yvonne mostly but recently, I
haven't been seeing here in years either :( )
--did a little more shopping before I headed home to rest up for tonite's festivities (ie. nap)
--nite started with myself walking down lively Queen Street to soak up the Toronto new years culture
--walked all the way towards Nathan Phillip Square, Toronto's City Hall, where the traditional CityTV New Years Eve Show was taking place. The event was being to get packed with ppl ready for the show. The electricity was in the air for the show. Everyone was excited to be there.
--of all the years I have lived in Toronto, I have never been to Nathan Phillip Square during this event....its cuz its usually too cold. Tonite, it wasn't too bad.
--I later get the call to meet Danny and started heading to another friend's place for a new years bash. We drive there and get to the place even before the host got back! This was not good, considering Midnite was just an hour away!
--ended up watching the countdown from the CityTV new years show that I was just at. Ah, the memories.
--got to see up and rising white RnB superstar, Shawn Desmond (from Toronto) perform as he was "rockin' it in the Tee Dot...Man, he was so bad, it was good!
--ended up spending the rest of the nite watching Pride/Ultimate Fighting Championship. At the beginning, we were REALLY mocking the homo eroticity of these fights, but later on, the fights just got more and more brutal and exciting, and we really got into it (yes, even the women)
--during the nite, got a phone call from Densetsu wishing me Happy New Years. He wanted to get a jump on it since he was on east coast time. Little did he
know, I too was on east coast time as well.
Day 10: New Years Day
HAPPY NON-LUNAR NEW YEARS
--spend afternoon and dinner at older sister's place and the evil nephews, in which I help "babysit" when they were just babies.
--learned how truely these kids are a part of the Internet Generation.

er...back on the internet, not in Seattle just yet.
Its like 11:30 pm Saturday, my flight is tomorrow morning at 7:30am, so for fun, we decided that we all stay up tonite and go clubbing, eat at some great 24 hour deli and then get me to the airport at 5:30am. Sounds, like a plan, right?
Anyways, my friend Danny wants to take a nap before we hit this after hour club in which our ol' friend is DJing. Til then, I guess I will update my blog! Yippeeee!
Day 6: Hangin' with Buckets (continue)
--hanged out with Buckets in Mississauga as he drove me around town in that wonderful Toyota Matrix he keeps yapping about.
--We checked out the NEW (new to me, anyways) Mississauga Square One Shopping Complex (mall) looking for this mythical $130 CDN PSOne with screen. We did not find it.
--when to visit Bucket's woman, Doodlegirl at the Starbucks at which she works at. She gave us discounted coffee/chocolate milk while we try to "geek" the place out by playing multiplayer Super Monkey Ball Jr. Monkeyfight on our GBA.
--I am, btw, the Oakville Starbucks Grand Champion of Super Monkey Ball Jr. MonkeyFight, beating down Buckets, 3 games to NOTHING! Ha Ha!
--finally, got to check out his "crib" as well. He has everything you need to like a meaningful geeky life.
--later enjoyed some pizza at Boston Pizza. Tropical Chicken pizza, anyone?
Day 7: Pickering Flea Market, BABEE!
--went with Dan and Wendy to Pickering Flea Market, for some wholesome flea market goodness. Pickering, btw, is very far from Toronto and is considered the "boonies"
--I normal go to look for some cool shit, mostly used video games, but I couldn't find anything that interested me.
--ended up only purchasing a Jamician Chicken Patty and a Spicy Beef Patty (not Jamician style, mon) and a Vanilla Coke
--later had dinner with my old Digipen roomate, Johnny Mac! He still wont tell me what the heck he was working on!
--we talked about old times and he told me about his secret future plans, which was pretty amazing. I will write about it once its official.
--afterwards, I headed to another party, hosted by my old school mate (I've known him since Grade 2).
--OMG, there were ppl I haven't seen for years, including his parents, who was just floored to see me.
--so, its a party with equal amounts of guys and girls and once again I attract all the attention of the guys just cuz "I make video games for a living" *sigh*

My New Year's Resolutions
Thought I post this as a friendly reminder to myself as well as physical proof that I made them so I can look back at it next year. Anyways:
1. Head to the gym more often
--yeah yeah. This is like the no. 1 new years resolution for everyone on the planet, so why should it be any different for me? The truth of the matter is, I actually was headed to the gym at a regular basis right up to when I started moving to Seattle. Then I was packing and moving and when I got here, all I did was try to settled in and then work got all hectic and crazy and I was often here late and too tired to even think of heading to the gym afterwards. That needs to change, especially since work pays for this AWESOME membership to this incredible and expensive gym. No more excuses.
2. Be less irriable at work
--ever since I started work here, I have started become an asshole. Only at work though, and really only to one person, but nevertheless, an asshole. Why? I blame my new job, the stress and the long hours takin' a toll on me. Anyways, I am glad I had that vacation and now my head is much more clear now and I realized my wrong doings. No more assholeness from me. I will be good.
3. Keep in touch with friends outside of Seattle better
--again, I blame work. Since starting here, I have rarely anytime to communicate with my other friends. I work all day, no instant messenger at work, no time to email, too busy to call, and I get home so late that no one is ever online or awake to do my catching up. Nevertheless, I will do what I can, because I have always been someone who put my friends first.
4. Be more social
--many ppl assume that I am a very social guy, but I really dont see myself that way. Its not that easy for me to meet new people and start decent conversations, though I do try harder than most. I really need to initate better with people. This I need to improve.
5. Learn to drive in Seattle
--and I am not talking about my speeding either. I have a phobia in driving in big cities, like downtown Seattle. Downtown scares me, because of the fact I am not familar with it and the heavy traffic and the pedestrians and the whole finding parking issues (I still dont know how to parallel park). But I am taking it one day at a time and am learning. I just need more hand holding :(
6. Travel more
--last year, I probably travelled more than I ever did in my measly existences on this planet. And I loved it. This year, I want to go to more places. Sure, I will be heading to Vancouver and San Francisco and So Cal and Toronto again this year, but I want to find new places to go to, like Hawaii and Japan. Yes, I hope to do that this year.
7. Drink more
--most ppl say they will drink less this year, I want to drink more. I dont really drink but when I do, its usually with a small number of really close friends. But I need to be more of a social drinker and let myself go. Whenever I am out and I aint driving, I need to take advantage of that much more, because I am starting to piss off people when they have to drive and I dont drink at all.
8. Blog more and more meaningful blogs
--I have to stop blogging only on the weekend, because if I do, I tend to write really long and boring blog entries. I also need to have a better life during the week too. As well, I have been told that I need to stop writing what I did and more about what I am feeling and thinking. Makes for a more interesting blog, so I am told. Will do.
9. Live life to the fullest
--nuff said...
